A Chinese homeless woman is being called a hero after saving over abandoned 30 babies from the streets of Jinua, China after details of her efforts have surfaced.
Together with her late husband who died 17 years ago, Lou raised for of the abandoned children on her own, and gave the rest out to friends and family to start their lives over the past 40 years.
Now, Lou Xiaoying suffers from heart and kidney failure, and is being recognized for her heroic efforts. Many people are coming forward to help Xiaoying in her final days.
“I realized if we had strength enough to collect garbage, how could we not recycle something as important as human lives?” Xiaoying said. “The whole thing started when I found the first baby, a little girl back in 1972 when I was out collecting rubbish. She was just lying amongst the junk on the street, abandoned. She would have died had we not rescued her and taken her in,” she said in an interview with the Daily Mail.

According to one of her daughters, 33-year-old Zhang Juju, Xiaoying, despite being extremely poor, always did her best to provide the best lives for he children the took in.
Now, even though Lou is dying, she is still thinking of her abandoned children. She says that all she wants to do before she dies is see her 7-year-old go to school.
Community members have stepped forward to help continue Xiaoying’s legacy once she is gone.
