What are these tots talking about? Eighteen-month-old fraternal twins Sam and Ren seem to be having a conversation similar to that of a full-grown adult. Using hand gestures, facial expressions, questions, answers, and even laughter, they look like they are genuinely communicating. And they may be – they’re just not speaking english.
Instead of using words, the twin boys are making sounds in the rhythm and tone of normal human speech. According to doctors,”They’re using the intonation patterns of sentences — imitating sentences in a crude way. It’s one way that children learn how to talk.”
Although they don’t have a grasp on word associations yet, they do have a basic understanding of the way conversation works. Eventually, baby babble will be replaced with words, but for now, these babies are improvising.
