Bobbie, founded in 2019, is an organic baby food brand. It was started by Laura Modi & Sarah Hardy. They were unhappy with formula options on the shelves in the United States.

The pair started Bobbie to provide a healthier option for baby food, free of contaminants. Almost five years later, the organic baby food has received two awards. They are proud holders of the Clean Label Project Purity Award and the Clean Label Pesticide-Free Certification.

The brand has gained fame among parents looking for a baby food option free of GMOs, pesticides, and other harmful chemicals.

What We Love About Bobbie Formula

Our team took a closer look at the nutritional content of Bobbie, and needless to say we were impressed. Here are some of the main benefits of this formula based on Bobbie’s nutritional content:

Organic Ingredients

The Bobbie formula follows both US and EU standards for organic certification. This means it does not use antibiotics in the cows from which the milk is sourced.

Easy to Digest

Bobbie uses organic nonfat milk as it’s carbohydrate. This makes it easy to digest for your baby. The milk is sourced from Organic Valley, and comes from 45 family owned co-op farms located in Vermont and Ohio.

Most moms say that Bobbie is gentle on their babies’ stomachs. For those children who have very sensitive tummies, Bobbie offers Bobbie gentle formula which contains partially hydrolyzed proteins. This helps the formula to be broken down more easily and has been shown to help digestion.

No Added Sugars

Unlike some other formulas on the market, the Bobbie formula does not contain any corn syrup. It’s also free of Palm Oil, added sugars, soy, and artificial flavors.

Contains Essential Nutrients

This brand sources it’s protein from nonfat milk and has a 60/40 whey to casein ratio. It is also high in DHA, iron, and Omega-3 fatty acids. It’s also a great source of calcium, as well as vitamins A, C, and D.

Bobbie Subscription

Bobbie offers a subscription model that schedules a monthly delivery of formula automatically delivery to your door. We love baby formula subscriptions because it takes away one more stressor for busy parents. Plus one for Bobbie!

What We Wish Was Different About Bobbie

In terms of the downsides of Bobbie, there are a few key things that caught our attention:

Does not contain Human Milk Oligosaccharide (HMOs)

Human Milk Oligosaccharide is a prebiotic that can help strengthen an infant’s immune system. Some organic baby formula’s contain HMO’s, however, Bobbie does not.

Availability

availability of Bobbie

In our research we found that the main complaint for Bobbie baby food is availability. You can find bobbie formula at Target, however, it often runs out of stock.

Price

The cost of Bobbie organic formula is a bit on the high side. It costs $25.99 for a 14oz can, or $1.42 per ounce. This much more expensive than traditional baby food, but, less expensive than other similar baby formula.

Bobbie Formula Recalls

In 2019, an early version of Bobbie was recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This was because of concerns about product labeling. The recall said that the formula lacked important nutrients. The bulletin reads “The absence of any of these key nutrients in infant formula may lead to poor growth…”

The recall on Bobbie formula has since been resolved.

What Do Parents Say About the Bobbie Formula?

The main place to buy this formula in the United States is at Target. Because of this, we took a look through Bobbie baby formula reviews there to see what parents are saying.

Positive Reviews

Gentle on the Tummy

This baby food doesn’t include any corn syrup, so it’s easy on a baby’s stomach. One mom said “Our baby spits up way less than usual with this formula.”

Fully Organic

As we mentioned before, Bobbie formula is fully organic. One mom said that when her doctor recommended another baby food that “listed corn product as the first ingredient.” When she hear this, she said she “knew she was wrong.” She mentioned that she tried Bobbie and her baby “took it with ease, drinks it warm or cold and is perfect and healthy going on 5 months old now!”

Taste

Bobbie tastes great (we tasted it ourselves). In fact, one mom on Target.com mentioned that her daughter “would always make a face like she didn’t like the taste.” When she tried Bobbie, “she loved it instantly and drank it all up.”

Negative Reviews:

Allergies

You should always check with a doctor before switching formulas, especially if your baby is prone to allergies. One mom on said after trying Bobbie formula, “My baby got allergic to this product.” She went on to say “he got full red marks on his whole body after giving just 1 ounce of Bobbie formula.”

Expensive

This formula is more expensive than many other formulas, especially their non-organic counterparts. One mom said “it smells good and you can tell it’s good quality. Just wish it was a little cheaper”

Out of Stock

As we mentioned previously, this formula is sometimes out of stock at Target. This can make it difficult to be consistent with the formula. One reviewer said “unless you are prepared to order directly from the Bobbie website, don’t count on Target to keep enough in stock.” Bobbie does have a subscription model which could solve this issue.

Judging by the Bobbie organic infant formula reviews on Target, we think the positives far outweigh the negatives.

How Does the Bobbie Formula Compare to Other Formulas?

Both formulas include important nutrients for a baby. However, the Bobbie formula is organic and does not contain any added sugars. Similac Pro-Advance, on the other hand, does contain added sugars.

Bobbie formula vs. Enfamil NeuroPro

Both formulas are organic and made in Germany. However, the Holle formula contains maltodextrin, which is a type of sugar, while the Bobbie formula does not.

It’s 60/40 whey to casein ratio. as well as it’s DHA, iron, and Omega-3 content make it a clear winner. However, the formula may not be a good fit for all babies, and the price may be high for some parents.
